Marvel Movies - Infinity Saga Ranked

I avoided Marvel movies for the longest time. Maybe I just missed the first few and then they piled up, and I felt too far behind. I'm not sure, but this past year in school we did a lesson on the Marvel Cinematic Universe. For once, every student seemed to know what I was talking about and I hadn't even seen the movies, but they were engaged. I felt like I was missing out and maybe the next time I'm talking about a history topic and I can connect it to the MCU then maybe a few light bulbs go on, so I decided to watch them all.

I got myself into the right mindset and watched them. This post will include the movies of Phase I, II,  and III, which is known as the Infinity Saga. Black Widow, Doctor Strange and the Multiverse of Madness, Shang Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings, Eternals, and No Way Home are Phase IV and are not included.

I'm not a MCU fanboy or a movie critic, I just watch movies and decide if I liked the experience.

Official Rankings - Infinity Saga

23. Guardians of the Galaxy

The bickering, insult humor was off-putting. It was like being at a roast with bad comedians or watching the worst episodes of It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia. Not my vibe. I was bullied in a group chat for not liking this movie. I'm out on Chris Pratt. He is not it.

22. Thor: The Dark World

Lots going on, but none of it is interesting.

21. Captain Marvel

The Kree-Skrull War wasn't for me.

20. Iron Man 3

The weakest of the Iron Man movies.

19. Captain America: The First Avenger

Steve Rodgers' Captain America is ok. The Hydra/Nazi intertwining is weird. Red Skull is a corny and unexciting villain.

18. Guardians of the Galaxy 2

I enjoyed this volume more than the first.

17. Black Panther

I loved the vibe of the movie. I found the plot a bit meandering.

16. Captain America: Civil War

It was entertaining to see the Avengers at each other's throats. Captain America will not sign away his freedom to save the world.

15. Captain America: The Winter Soldier

Steve Rodgers and Buck Barnes sure do have an interesting relationship.

14. The Avengers: Age of Ultron

I feel like I had to group these Avengers movies together.

13. The Avengers

I enjoyed Loki more than Ultron and Thor dropping the Hammer was epic.

12
. The Avengers: Infinity War

Thanos was an interesting villain. If the Infinity Saga ended here that might make people reconsider things.

11. The Avengers: Endgame

These movies seem so massive.  I have a rating system and this and Infinity War are so long that's it's impossible for them not to get a perfect score. They're so long that they eventually check every box, so I just have to go by my gut.

10. Spider Man: Far From Home

I found the Spider-Man movies charming, but the kids in this movie are insane because the school trip takes place during summer vacation.

9. Spider-Man: Homecoming

Such a stark difference from the huge InfinityWar and Endgame movies. I enjoyed the small-time, local feel of the movie. Plus, Batman and Spider-Man together? Tough to beat.

8. Thor: Ragnarock

The fun returned to the Thor movies with the addition of Director Taika Waititi. Jeff Goldblum as Grandmaster is outstanding, "You know what, I woke up this morning thinking about a public execution."

7. Iron Man 2

An unhinged Tony Stark fears death while Ivan Vanko seeks revenge. Solid.

6. Ant-Man

 I love the Ant-Man movies.

5. Ant-Man and the Wasp

I give the edge to the second one because shrinking the lab into a wheeled briefcase absolutely kills me.

4. Iron Man

Awesome movie that started it all. It is interesting to wonder how things might have gone differently for Marvel. Iron Man was the first of the MCU. It absolutely smashed at the box office and the rest is history. However, Iron Man was only released about a month before The Incredible Hulk. This movie immensely overshadowed Hulk, but what if Hulk came out first?

It's also interesting that the MCU begins with Tony Stark, who is apparently a good arms dealer and then most of the rest of the MCU is about evil arms dealers trying to gain control of the world or universe.

3. The Incredible Hulk

From the little that I've attempted to gather, this movie seems like the black sheep of the MCU. People can shit-talk this movie all they like, but I really enjoyed it. I find the Incredible Hulk to be the most relatable superhero because it’s about a person trying to control their inner beast. Bruce Banner is is on the run from the United States military industrial complex because he was the subject of a WW2 super-soldier experiment. Probably darker than most Marvel movies and that's probably why I like it.

2. Thor

Thor, who is essentially an alien and unaccustomed to being on earth and that leads to lol moments and Natalie Portman is fantastic.

1. Doctor Strange

Superhero movies are about origin stories and this one is the most interesting. Cumberbatch is excellent as Mister Doctor.
